What is Botox?
Botulinum Toxin Type A is produced by a bacteria. Botox is the safe, purified, very low-concentration form of the toxin.
How does Botox work?
Botox works by preventing nerve impulses to the muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles, allowing them to relax. Botox is injected under the skin into specific muscles, such as the facial expression muscles that cause frown lines and wrinkles. Botox blocks the chemical signals that cause muscles to contract. When the muscles can’t tighten, the overlying skin becomes flattened and smooth, reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
How is Botox Treatment given?
Botox comes in a small vial which is then mixed with sterile saline before it can be used. Once prepared it is injected in very small doses using a fine needle. Only a small number of injection points are needed to treat areas on the face. It usually takes 5-10 minutes to complete.
When should I see the results?
Within 3-7 days the skin appears smoother and within 2 weeks the effects are even greater. The effect of Botox fades with time. Typically you can enjoy the effects for 3-6 months.
How often can Botox be given?
You can receive Botox injections every 4 months. With repeated treatments, the facial muscles become smoother, which produces longer lasting results.
Is it safe?
Botox has now been used and studied for decades. When administered by a qualified doctor, it is one of the safest cosmetic treatments available.
What areas can be treated?
Botox is most commonly effective in smoothing lines in the upper face:
- Crow’s-feet at the corners of the eyes
- Frown Lines between the eyebrows and on the bridge of the nose (Glabellar)
- Forehead Lines (Worry Lines)
- Eyebrow lifts
It also can include:
- Lips for smoker lines
- Nose lines (Bunny lines)
Botox Treatment for Excessive Sweating
Excessive sweating can be caused by hyperhidrosis which is a chronic disorder. In the past, most treatments for excessive sweating were often ineffective, short acting or had significant risks. At brokgreenmedical we offer Botox injections for the treatment of excessive underarm sweating (Axillary Hyperhidrosis).
Botox injections for Axillary Hyperhidrosis : £360
How does it work?
Botox injections administered across the areas of excessive sweating works by blocking the release of acetylcholine, which activates the sweat glands.
How long does it last?
This reduction in sweating can last 6-12 months, after which the treatment can be repeated. It has proven to be extremely effective and popular with clients, who previously had to endure this upsetting and embarrasing condition.
